A day to connect schools, farmers and the local community — helping children understand where their food comes from, who grows it, and why our countryside matters. Free to attend, priceless to experience.
First held in 2007, Farming and Countryside Day was created by Robert and Sue Oldershaw to help children understand where food comes from. It returns in 2026 to inspire a new generation with farming, food, and life on the land.
Experts from across agriculture and the countryside will deliver engaging, age-appropriate talks throughout the day — from crop growing to animal care, sustainability and machinery — giving pupils a real insight into life, work, and innovation on the land.
Pupils will get hands-on with a range of activities — planting seeds, digging potatoes, watching live sheep shearing, and enjoying a tractor and trailer ride around the farm — bringing the world of food and farming vividly to life.
The day would be nothing without our supporters and exhibitors. These carefully selected group of people and companies all have links to the agricultural industry and will be on hand throughout the day giving short talks to the pupils.
